With the purpose to transfer essential skills related to agriculture to target beneficiaries so that they could sustain a stable livelihood, earn additional income, reduce vulnerability, and decrease dependency on NGOs, we have organized many beneficial training and invited potential participants who are of our target group to join the training.
The benefits on paper look promising. After joining the training, participants will be able to apply what they learn to reap results and increase their income so that they could break the vicious poverty cycle. The real benefits, however, remain to be foreseen. It is unsure whether they can successfully apply what they have learned and put it into practice. It is unsure whether they can grasp most of the skills that they have been trained. I do not mean trainings are not beneficiaries. I strongly believe that to see behaviour changes in beneficiaries, skill training is the key. Having said that, the quality of training is subtle, the motives and needs of participants are unclear, the desired behaviour change is uncertain. In other words, it is difficult to claim that the outcome is achieved.
More than just mere training alone are indeed needed. Likewise, back up support is essentially needed. A facilitator should monitor how their progress has been made.
